David Lynch Movie BLUE VELVET : A gritty crime drama about
the seedy underworld characters in a small lumbertown.
Hellacious Movies Movie Review :This review is one of the more difficult reviews that I will
ever write. I'm torn in two different directions. One aspect of me did not like the David Lynch
movie BLUE VELVET. However another side of me wants you to understand the importance of this
film. We must remember however what 1986 was like and come to realize that no one in the
movie industry wanted to sign onto this movie because of its violent and sexual nature.
Finally one studio had the guts to run with it. BLUE VELVET gave David Lynch his second
Academy Award nomination for Best Director and it is responsible for jumpstarting Dennis
Hoppers career! Love it or hate it BLUE VELVET was an important contribution to the Movie
Industry. With that being said I believe everyone should see it atleast once!
