Hellacious Movies Movie Review: A Brilliant Movie! I simply adore true stories! The wildlife
lover and advocate inside me says it was all that and a bag of chips! The scenery was
absolutely breathe taking! I laughed hysterically at the "Tyler's New Diet" scene
and I was mesmerized by the "oboe" scene where Tyler covered in melting snow is playing
his oboe which produced a melancholy sound that sounded much like the woeful sound of
wolves howling! The movie was incredible! I often wonder why hollywood insists on
producing so much garbage when they could be putting out masterpieces like Never Cry Wolf!
Charles Martin Smith said this was lonliest shoot he had ever been on! Most of the 2 years
spent shooting the film he was the only actor present! I believe it served him well!
Charles Martin Smith literally brought to life the lonliness and journey of self discovery
that his character Tyler went thru! It was so real you could almost taste it!
The scene where Tyler falls through the ice wasn't done at some cushy set with a swimming
pool! The scene was shot outdoors on location under extremely frigid conditions! And no
that wasn't a stuntman sinking to the bottom, Charles Martin Smith did his own stunts!
My one and only gripe is the movie used 30 wolves that were raised in captivity! And that they had
to train the wolves to act and behave as wolves do! This made me quite sad! It is an outrage that we
continue to exploit wildlife in this way! And what part of the term wildlife don't we understand!
These majestic animals belong in the wilderness, not at the beck and call of man! It is heartbreaking
to imagine a wolf stripped of its heritage, and of its very nature, so much so it knows not how to
behave like the wolf it was born to be! Sometimes I think humans have no heart or soul!
